About Us:

God’s Love We Deliver, a nonsectarian organization, is the New York metropolitan area’s leading provider of life-sustaining meals and nutrition counseling for people living with severe illnesses. Begun as an HIV/AIDS service organization, God’s Love provides for people living with more than 200 individual diagnoses. God’s Love cooks and home delivers the specific, nutritious meals a client’s severe illness and treatment so urgently require. Meals are individually tailored for each client by one of our Registered Dietitians, and all clients have access to unlimited nutrition counseling. God’s Love supports families by providing meals for the children and senior caregivers of our clients. All of our services are provided at no cost to our clients.

About the Role:

We are seeking a collaborative, strategic, and operationally minded Manager, Government & Research Grants to lead and strengthen the organization's government and research funding portfolio.

Reporting to the Director of External Affairs and partnering closely with the Director of Research and Evaluation, this role manages the full lifecycle of government and research grants—from identifying funding opportunities and coordinating proposal development to overseeing compliance, reporting, and grant administration. Working across Research & Evaluation, Policy & Advocacy, Finance, Programs, Operations, Philanthropy, and external affairs stakeholders, the Manager will help expand sustainable funding, strengthen grant infrastructure, and support God’s Love We Deliver's leadership in the Food Is Medicine field.

Responsibilities:

The position combines grants management, strategic project management, operational coordination, compliance oversight, and cross-functional leadership.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of government and research grants, from opportunity identification through closeout.
  • Research and evaluate government and research funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Lead the coordination and submission of competitive grant proposals, partnering with internal stakeholders to develop compelling narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee grant administration, ensuring compliance with funder requirements, reporting deadlines, contractual obligations, and organizational policies.
  • Develop and maintain grant management systems, calendars, dashboards, and tracking tools to improve visibility, accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies, research institutions, and other funding partners regarding grant administration and compliance.
  • Partner with organizational leadership to develop and implement long-term government and research funding strategies.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships to support proposal development, grant implementation, and organizational priorities.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and occasional evening or weekend events as needed.

About You:

You are a skilled writer, critical thinker, and collaborative problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environments. You communicate clearly across teams, translate strategy into action, and balance attention to detail with big-picture thinking. You are excited to identify transformative funding opportunities and strengthen the organization’s growing government and research funding infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 4–7 years of experience in grants management, institutional giving, nonprofit management, research administration, public policy, healthcare, higher education, or a related field.
  • Experience managing or supporting government and/or research grants from proposal through reporting and closeout.
  • Strong grant writing experience, including government or research funding proposals (e.g., NIH, CMS, federal, state, or local agencies).
  • Exceptional project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across departments and manage diverse stakeholder relationships.
  • Experience developing or improving operational processes, systems, and workflows.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, grant management software, reporting tools, or fundraising databases.
  • Strategic, detail-oriented, and solutions-focused with the ability to navigate ambiguity and build effective processes.
