About the Role:
We’re seeking an experienced Cook with strong large-batch production skills to prepare, cook, and package meals for our Meal Program. The ideal candidate can read and scale recipes, works efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen, and follows strict food safety and sanitation standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook large quantities of food and soup following standardized recipes
- Scale recipes accurately and maintain consistent quality
- Operate kettles, tilt skillets, ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment
- Supervise and assist volunteers during production and packaging
- Maintain cleanliness and compliance with NYC Department of Health regulations
- Accurately label, date, and store prepared meals
- Cross-train and assist with other kitchen functions as needed

In addition, the right candidate meets the following requirements:
- 2 years of large-batch or institutional cooking experience
- Ability to read and follow recipes in English
- Strong math and communication skills
- NYC Food Protection Certificate or SERV Safe Certification (required)
- Able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs (occasionally up to 100 lbs)
- Flexible schedule required — availability for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
