Purpose of Job: 

To promote excellence in student achievement by providing support at the school and regional levels in effective instructional practices and learning opportunities through implementation of GOAL adopted curriculum and supplemental programming.  

 

Essential Duties/ Major Accountabilities:

Department Management  

  • Develop, organize, and manage the scope and sequence, base curriculum, and common assessments for each course.   

  • Assist and support onboarding, both in-person and virtually, of teachers in the department.   

  • Develop, implement, and support the use of advanced tech tools to enrich the instructional capacity of our teachers, especially Microsoft products  

  • Develop collaborative relationships with school departments, programs, and regions.  

  • Support compliance with policies and procedures, statutes, and rules of GOAL, Falcon 49, and CDE.   

Training and Facilitation   

  • Evaluate training needs and propose learning solutions for the department  

  • Facilitate live in-person, live online, and pre-recorded training.   

  • Assist with the implementation of new hire orientation.   

  • Represent the Science Department at internal and external events.   

  • Communicate positively and clearly with a wide variety of staff including writing, presenting, and one-to-one interactions.  

  • Participate in, and support, the implementation of student-centered coaching  

Instructional Support   

  • Use instructional design strategies to create, curate, and maintain Health and Science content.   

  • Collaborate with departments at regional and statewide levels.   

  • Quickly synthesize new technology and information and present it in a simple, meaningful manner.  

  • Establishes and maintains standards for curriculum design and development.  

  • Build relationships with coach and mentor staff. Identify needs, seek out appropriate resources, and adjust support as needed.   

  • Be willing to travel to sites to meet, train, and/or support staff as needed.   

  • Become a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, with school support and funding, by submitting annually until accepted. This role also includes helping other staff become Microsoft certified and supporting our work as a Microsoft Showcase School.

  • Well-versed in conflict resolution skills.  Ability to mediate conflicts (e.g., between students, staff, parents, or community members) while promoting school core values.  

  • Have a demonstrated history of understanding the benefits of continuous learning and take personal responsibility for professional development. 

  • Prior/current positions reflect the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding students, families, and coworkers. 

  • Ethical, honest, and good-humored.

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Must possess a valid Driver's License 

  • Must reside in Colorado 

Education: 

  • Colorado Department of Education Teaching License in content area OR  

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the content area (earned at a regionally accredited college/university) OR  

  • Bachelor’s degree and completing at least 24 semester hours of specific coursework from a regionally accredited college/university (as determined by transcript review via the CDE Endorsement Worksheet) OR  

  • Bachelor’s degree and passing the Colorado State Board of Education approved exam(s)  

  • Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.  

Experience:  

  • Certified Microsoft Innovative Educator required  

  • Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert certification preferred; annual submission required until certification is achieved  

  • Three years of online facilitation or teaching experience   

  • Three years of in-person facilitation or teaching experience  

  • One year of mentoring or coaching experience   

  • Online course design and/or development experience.  

  • Experience working in an LMS (Schoology preferred).
