Production Support
ROLE SUMMARY
The Production Team Member is responsible for packing lettuce and other leafy greens while ensuring all products meet company quality and food safety standards. This role requires strict adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and company policies to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Harvest Preparation & Packing
- Assist in preparing leafy greens for packaging, ensuring product is ready for the packing process.
- Pack lettuce and other leafy greens into clamshell containers according to company standards.
- Pack filled clamshells into boxes accurately and efficiently.
2. Material Handling & Support
- Supply packing materials (clamshells, boxes, labels) to harvest team members to maintain continuous workflow.
- Unbox and organize packaging materials for daily use.
- Safely move materials and finished product using a pallet jack.
3. Quality Control
- Inspect product during packing to ensure it meets company quality standards.
- Identify and report any quality issues to leadership to prevent substandard product from shipping.
4. Automation & Equipment Support
- Assist with loading, setup, and operation of automation equipment.
- Learn and operate automation machinery as needed to support production.
5. Compliance, Safety & Organization
- Follow all GMPs, food safety standards, and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
6. Teamwork & Communication
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production goals and maintain efficient workflow.
- Communicate any issues related to product quality, equipment, or processes to the lead, supervisor, or manager.
7. Cross-Training & Flexibility
- Learn and support other departments as needed.
- Perform additional duties and assignments as directed by management.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience
- Prior experience in a production or food manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and product quality.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Willingness to be cross-trained and support multiple departments as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene standards preferred.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred; designated bilingual roles may qualify for pay differential.
- Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or automation equipment preferred; certification required per California regulations before operating powered industrial equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining efficiency and quality standards.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules based on production and customer demands, in compliance with California labor laws.
