The Role

This is a new store opening in Seattle's South Lake Union neighborhood, and this is an opening role — you will help build the store and the team from the ground up, then run it.

The General Manager owns all aspects of store performance: sales growth, profitability, and operational execution. This role leads daily operations, sets the standard through example, and develops a high-performing team while upholding brand standards in cleanliness, service, and product quality.

Additional compensation includes an annual performance bonus targeted at 10–20% of total wages earned

Growth opportunity: this role offers a path into a regional management position as additional stores open.

Responsibilities

Operations

  • Lead all aspects of daily store operations, including opening, closing, and shift management
  • Ensure consistent product quality, food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • Oversee food preparation and production, maintaining freshness and portion standards
  • Ensure all team members receive their legally required rest and meal breaks, and schedule coverage so those breaks are consistently taken
  • Monitor and maintain store equipment, coordinating repairs as needed

Team

  • Own the full employment lifecycle: recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, development, performance management, and separations
  • Coach and develop team members and shift leads
  • Maintain staffing levels through effective scheduling, labor planning, and cross-training
  • Lead by example as a hands-on operator, stepping in to support any role as needed

Sales, Catering & Financial Performance

  • Take full accountability for P&L performance, controlling food, labor, and operating costs
  • Build and own the catering and group order program: prospecting neighborhood employers, offices, and organizations; pitching and pricing within company guidelines; executing orders; and retaining accounts
  • Drive sales growth through in-store execution, promotions, and local marketing
  • Analyze sales, labor, and inventory reports and implement action plans
  • Manage inventory: ordering, receiving, auditing, and minimizing waste

Guest Experience

  • Ensure every guest interaction meets or exceeds brand expectations
  • Seek and respond to guest feedback, resolving concerns promptly

Qualifications

  • Prior experience opening a new store is strongly preferred. You should be able to describe a specific opening you worked — your role, the date, what slipped, and how you responded.
  • 2 years of leadership experience in food service, retail, or a similar fast-paced environment, with prior management experience required; 5 years preferred
  • Experience selling or managing catering, group orders, or corporate accounts preferred
  • Proven ability to recruit, hire, train, and develop teams
  • Experience managing full store operations including staffing, scheduling, and daily execution
  • Strong business acumen: budgeting, P&L management, labor scheduling, inventory, and cost control
  • Working knowledge of Washington State and Seattle wage, hour, and paid leave requirements, and King County Public Health food safety standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Business, Hospitality, or Restaurant Management preferred but not required
  • Washington Food Worker Card required; ServSafe Manager certification preferred or willingness to obtain
  • Availability across a five-day workweek including some evenings, weekends, and holidays as business requires. This role typically works 40–45 hours per week; all hours over 40 per week are paid at overtime rates.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

On-site position in a store setting with regular contact with water, sanitation solutions, frozen and refrigerated products, and produce. Frequent handwashing required. Noise level moderate to high.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.

  • Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance
  • Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 75 pounds
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, and depth perception

Fair Chance Hiring

Qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records will be considered for employment. We do not ask about criminal history, and do not conduct a background check, at any point before extending a conditional offer of employment, consistent with the Washington Fair Chance Act (RCW 49.94) and the Seattle Fair Chance Employment Ordinance (SMC 14.17).

If information from a background check may affect a hiring decision, we conduct an individualized assessment, provide written notice and a copy of the report, and allow a reasonable opportunity to respond or correct inaccuracies before any final decision.

Use of Automated Tools

We may use automated tools, including applicant tracking and resume-screening features, to assist in reviewing applications. These tools support our hiring team and do not replace human judgment. Every final hiring decision is made by a person. Applicants may request more information about how their application data is processed, or request an alternative review process as an accommodation.
