Food Scientist (Application Specialist)

The Application Specialist is responsible for providing technical advice in working with EXBERRY® that meet the Customers’ needs. This includes providing color recommendations and stability data in concise reports, and executing demos and proactive creative concepts for meetings and tradeshows.


The role:

  • Work closely with Sales on projects to provide samples that meet customer needs, including test samples, demos and concepts for meetings and tradeshows.
  • Utilize the project tracking software to communicate with Sales and to document all pertinent technical information, including but not limited to the parameters tested, model formulations and processing methods used.
  • Produce concise technical reports providing necessary data collected and analyzed on the product developed.
  • Responsible for the research of products, including but not limited to, the manufacturing process, ability to replicate the product, and ingredients needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the other members of the Applications Team as necessary for completion of products.
  • Maintain ongoing documentation of projects, including but not limited to demo and application sheets.
  • Attend industry tradeshows and represent GNT USA Inc.
  • Answer customer and sales questions as needed.
  • Utilize food science and culinary experience to produce quality products in line with industry standards.
  • Research, test and introduce ideas for new products.
  • Maintain a clean and organized lab space, and update ingredient library as required.


Additional responsibilities:

  • Organize and update ingredient library.
  • Keep project tracking software up-to-date.
  • Provide ideation for trade show demos & webinar content.
  • Provide onsite customer visit support to Sales, as required.
  • Attend industry conferences as needed.
  • Complete all assigned safety training in a timely manner.
  • Stay current with all required training and ensure timely completion.
  • Follow the Company's established processes, procedures, and policies, ensuring compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements, Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and product quality guidelines.
  • Maintain a collaborative team mindset while actively supporting GNT's Food Safety culture
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and support colleagues in adhering to hygiene standards


About you, as our ideal candidate:

  • 3-4 years’ experience working in the food industry
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science
  • Product development experience
  • Excellent technical verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working knowledge of the following software programs:
  • Microsoft Office, Navision, GiNA, and Qlikview
  • Willingness to travel
