Job Overview
We’re a Southern California land surveying and mapping firm seeking a Land Surveyor / LSIT / Survey Tech to join our team. This role focuses on office survey work - legal descriptions, plats, boundary research, map recording and plan check, project coordination and basemap creation and boundary calculations in CAD (Civil3D). The Hybrid consists of a remote-friendly (with occasional field visits) and in-office meeting work environment. This role offers direct collaboration with leadership and the opportunity to expand your responsibilities while helping shape and grow a developing survey department.

Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the survey department, providing direction, oversight and quality control on assigned projects
- Request As-Built plans from a plethora of Public Works departments, utility purveyors, State Agencies and telecom companies
- Plot utility plans from As-Built plans received into a usable CAD file format
- Assist with topographic maps, utility overlays, and project-specific mapping requirements
- Process Lidar datasets from field collected Lidar technology
- Conduct boundary research and deed/title analysis
- Research record maps and documents for each project scope from different County Agencies throughout California.
- Prepare legal descriptions, plats, exhibits, corner records, and maps (Parcel Maps and Records of Survey)
- Produce CAD survey basemaps and deliverables (AutoCAD / Civil 3D)
- Draft survey linework with symbology from field collected data
- Perform survey calculations and data adjustments using Trimble Business Center
- Maintain organized project files and documentation
- Support project managers and assist with department workflow
- Review drawings and mentor junior staff as needed
- Coordinate with client contacts, planners, and internal teams on deliverables
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of field and office land surveying experience (office-focused preferred)
- LSIT required (or on the path to taking the exam) - PLS license a plus
- Strong CAD skills (AutoCAD / Civil 3D)
- Experience leading, mentoring or supervising teams is preferred
- Experience with boundary, topo, and construction staking
- Field Crew scheduling and coordination experience
- Familiarity with Trimble Business Center software and applications
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
- Must reside in Southern California (LA/OC/IE region)
- Valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record
Pay Range
- The pay range for incoming hires into this position is $100,000- $130,000. Within this range, actual individual starting pay is determined by a variety of factors, including a candidate’s experience, job-related skills, and relevant training.
