Who We Are and What We Do
GNS America was established in 2009. Our core business is in conventional stamping, hot stamping, welding, and assembly. Our tool and die capability offer simulation and full design and build activities.
Hot and Conventional Stamping
GNS offers a complete range of stamping equipment. Our stamping facilities can cater to any required automotive and industrial stamping requirements. In our automotive operations, we have a full range of stamping capabilities in the 100 ton to 800 ton range, in multiple locations. Our stamping capabilities span a variety of metals.
Laser Cutting
GNS is a recognized leader in the use of laser technologies, GNS utilizes multi-axis laser cutting technology. Our multi-axis lasers are used for both prototyping and our large volume production for the automotive industry. In addition to cutting flat metal, GNS provides trimming and hole piercing services for three-dimensional parts. Our lasers have the versatility to cut a variety of metals with varying thickness and degrees of complexity.
Welding
At GNS, we use spot welding in the welding of Ultra High Strength Steel and Press Hardening parts. Our welding and assembly cells are highly automated. We use automated robots to perform several of the most complex and precise operations inside the welding cells to achieve maximum cost reduction and ensure we produce the highest quality products for our customers.
SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing leadership/direction for all aspects of Plant Engineering with the ultimate objective of maximizing production volume while achieving quality and cost targets. Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the engineering, maintenance and sustainability functions of the plant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in an effective manner with customers, clients, suppliers, and employees.
- Manages all engineering activities of the assigned facility including equipment controls and capital projects.
- Directs department activities to design new processes, modify existing process and/or designs, improve production techniques, and develop test procedures.
- Directs personnel activities of department, such as recruitment, hiring, performance evaluations.
- Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to both plan and optimize current projects.
- Responsible for facilitating improvement projects to help drive cost reduction, process improvement, safety and compliance.
- Collaborates with management, production, and corporate staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products. Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.
- Actively participates in Engineering Change Activities in both participation and by assignment of the appropriate plant personnel to ensure that all aspects of the E.C. are captured and implemented as planned.
- Provides feed-back and direction to the Corporate Engineering team to ensure that equipment and processes are adequately specified to support new product launches and equipment upgrades.
- Works with the Leadership team to strengthen the overall effectiveness of the site.
- Maintains the plant and facilities using on-site labor; as well as contracted companies, controlling costs and ensuring safety and compliance to all safe work practices and programs.
- Leads and participates in continuous improvement initiatives with end goal of increasing plant safety, improve OEE and quality.

- Ensures that self and all employees actively participate in and successfully complete appropriate training (on-the-job, classroom, etc.) and that all training provided is evaluated and that proper documentation is provided for accurate maintenance of the employee’s training record.
- Maintains frequent, regular two-way communication with employees to provide information on the state of the business and their performance, establishing an environment of trust.
- Meets with employees regularly to discuss their performance, with formal written performance reviews completed at least annually using the employee’s job description as a basis for appraisal.
- Meets with supervisor at least once per year to review job performance using this job description as a basis for appraisal.
- Supports quality and environmental management systems as required.
- Performs other miscellaneous duties consistent with this position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned Engineers.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with preference in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related technical field required; minimum of 10 years of related experience within a manufacturing environment (preferably in the automotive industry); 1-3 years of experience in a leadership position or equivalent combination of education and experience. Welding and stamping experience required. Hot stamping experience is strongly preferred. Experience with Heat treat preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Lean Black Belt, Six Sigma Black Belt and/or PMP certification preferred.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Good understanding of KPI’s.
- Experience with various problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma, 8D, etc.
- Proven project management, planning, scheduling and prioritizing skills to meet goals.
- Ability to read electrical, mechanical and hydraulic prints/schematics.
