GMS is seeking a Project Accountant for our New York Office. The Project Accountant provides day-to-day accounts receivable and billing support under general supervision. This role plays a key part in handling and maintaining accurate project records, supporting all project accounting processes. The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling large volumes of data in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Communicate professionally with clients and maintain positive working relationships
· Facilitate communication between project managers and clients regarding billing matter
· Assists with the monthly generation and issuance of invoices to clients accurately and on time,
ensuring all billable items are correctly recorded
· Attach and maintain backup documentation and receipts in Deltek Vantagepoint
· Manage and organize large volumes of electronic accounting records
· Respond promptly to requests from clients and internal team members
· Provide backup support for accounting functions during staff absences
· Upload monthly invoices to client portals (as a back-up)
Required Qualifications
· Associate degree in accounting or business preferred
· 2 years of accounting or billing experience
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to accounting
records
· Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a high-volume environment
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage confidential financial information
· Positive, professional attitude with a willingness to learn and assist where needed
· Strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint or similar project-based accounting software
· Experience with project accounting, billing, or expense reporting
· Construction, engineering, or professional services accounting experience a plus

Compensations and Benefits
- Salary range: $70,000 - $95,000 commensurate with education, experience, and performance

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
