Summary:
The Estimator / Project Manager is responsible for bidding, planning, and managing commercial and industrial electrical projects from pre-construction through completion. This role combines technical estimating expertise with hands-on project management to ensure projects are delivered safely, profitably, and to client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Preconstruction
- Review bid invitations, drawings, and specifications to prepare accurate takeoffs and competitive estimates.
- Identify scope, exclusions, value engineering opportunities, and potential risks.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes.
- Develop project budgets, labor estimates, and detailed proposals.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site visits as needed.
- Maintain current pricing for material, labor, and equipment.
Project Management
- Oversee awarded projects from kickoff through closeout, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and profitability goals are met.
- Develop project schedules, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and progress billing.
- Coordinate with foremen, field teams, general contractors, and owners.
- Monitor job costs, manpower, and productivity; forecast and manage project financials.
- Conduct regular project meetings and communicate proactively with clients and team members.
- Manage procurement of major materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
- Ensure compliance with NEC, company standards, and client specifications.
- Support field operations with technical information, layout guidance, and change management.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC, and construction means & methods.
- Proficiency in estimating software (such as Accubid, ConEst, McCormick, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, one-lines, and specifications.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Pay: $50,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
