What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Construction Technology position at GMF Steel?
The Director of Construction Technology will evaluate, identify, and execute GMF Steel Group’s construction technology strategy in support of the company’s operational and long-term business objectives. They will lead and mentor staff, fostering professional development and continuous improvement. The Director will oversee the planning, deployment, coordination, and management of construction technology initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and performance. As a champion of innovation, they will drive technology adoption across the organization and ensure solutions support the company’s strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Lead initiatives and implementations of new construction technologies
- Recommend technology investments based on GMF’s goals and return on investment
- Remain knowledgeable of current field operations and industry practices and identify how technology can be leveraged more effectively
- Establish guidelines and procedures to ensure effective utilization across departments
- Attend conferences and research new updates to software and equipment
- Have a strong understanding of heavy commercial construction processes and terminology
- Comprehensive understanding of construction technology and ability to quickly master new software quickly
- Lead and mentor staff to support growth and department success
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum five years of experience working in the AEC industry
- Proven knowledge in Tekla Structures, Trimble, Procore, BlueBeam
- Experience in Project Controls, Cost Management, and Forecasting, is preferred
- Experience managing direct reports
- Strong written and oral communication; experience in teaching, training, and presentations.
