Duties
- Operate snow removal equipment such as plows, snow blowers, shovels, and hand tools to clear snow and ice from designated areas
- Apply salt or other de-icing materials to prevent ice formation and ensure safe walking and driving conditions
- Conduct inspections of outdoor surfaces to identify hazardous icy patches or obstructions
- Follow established safety protocols to prevent accidents during snow removal operations
- Maintain and perform routine inspections on grounds maintenance equipment, including power tools and hand tools
- Assist with general grounds maintenance tasks such as landscaping, mowing, tree trimming, and hardscape upkeep when weather permits
- Document completed work and report any equipment issues or safety concerns promptly
Qualifications
- Previous outdoor work experience, particularly in grounds maintenance or landscaping preferred
- Mechanical knowledge related to operating groundskeeping equipment and power tools
- Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices, including irrigation systems, gardening, and plant identification
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and grounds maintenance equipment safely and effectively
- Knowledge of safety protocols specific to outdoor winter work environments
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify hazards such as icy patches or damaged surfaces
- Excellent physical stamina for prolonged outdoor activity in winter conditions
