Department: Food and Nutrition
Reports to: Food Service Manager and School Nutrition Director
Position Summary: The Food Assistant assists in the preparation and delivering of meals to Glynn County Schools students, maintains a clean kitchen, and performs other food service duties as assigned by the Food Service Manager.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $9,177 - $13,793*

JOB QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred Physical Activity
- Ability to repetitively lift items weighing a maximum of 50 pounds
- Walk and stand on cement floor for an extended period of time
- Climb ladder, stoop, bend, lift and have hands in water
- Ability to work extended periods in various temperatures
- Ability to tolerate work conditions while cooking, steaming, baking, etc.
- Ability to tolerate a noisy work environment
- Operate kitchen equipment
- Communicates effectively and promotes good public relations with students, teachers, and administrators
- Works with peers/supervisors in a considerate and cooperative manner and assists others when needed
- Previous food preparation and food service experience preferred
- Ability to understand and follow directions
- Manages time efficiently
- Capable of performing basic math and uses production records
- Attends work every day on time and performs all duties as assigned effectively and efficiently
- Exhibits a professional attitude and demeanor at all times in dealing with the School Board, school administrators, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public
- Assists in ensuring compliance of the school nutrition program with Federal and State regulations, State and local health requirements and school system policies
- Able to follow recipes and cooking instructions to ensure food is safely prepared and of good quality.
- Assures proper portion control and appealing presentation of food
- Follows money handling procedures and all food safety practices
- Cleans and sanitizes dishes, equipment, and work areas
- Works with energy manager to reduce energy and water usage in all school cafeterias
- Utilizes and stores cleaning chemicals (solutions, aerosols, powders, etc.) according to manufacturer’s directions and local codes
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

COMPENSATION RANGE: $9,177 - $13,793*
- Salary is commensurate with experience and length of workday.
