What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Engineer in Training (EIT) position at GLS?
Responsibilities:
- Work under the supervision of a Licensed Professional Engineer, to provide civil engineering design for multi-faceted projects.
- Work closely with multiple departments within GLS including Architecture and Surveying.
- Manage and review of plans/designs of a variety of civil engineering projects, including site development, roads, bridges, stormwater systems, and water and wastewater systems.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, and estimates for construction projects.
- Inspect construction projects to ensure that they are completed in accordance with the plans and specifications.
- Work with other city departments and outside agencies to ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest civil engineering technologies and practices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- Strong knowledge and experience in Civil 3D, Land surveying, Construction estimating, Civil engineering, HEC, ArcGIS, GIS, AutoCAD.
- Excellent technical writing skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Proficient in using design software and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
