What are the responsibilities and job description for the Field Service Engineer position at GLS Lighting and Controls?
Responsibilities
Execute lighting control system energization, programming, check out, demonstration on job site.
Qualifications
1. College Bachelor Degree preferred
2. Experience in Architectural Lighting industry
3. Prior technical experience with theatrical/architectural or other lighting control system
4. Technical capability to safely troubleshoot typical electrical and electronic system issues
5. Working understanding of RMS voltage meters, oscilloscope meters, and other technical equipment used to verify proper lighting control system operation.
6. Proficient with Microsoft Windows software
7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
8. Proficient in Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam
9. Proficient and/or credentialed in Network Systems
10. Works well under pressure and can adapt to adverse job site situations.
11. Capability to work well with others despite adverse conditions
12. Experience with and knowledge of construction site protocol such as safety requirements, hierarchal procedures.
13. Operational knowledge of AutoCad or Ingen Oasis is beneficial
14. Proficient with oral and written English communication, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
15. Self-starter, does not require continuous over-sight
16. Able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously without direct supervision
17. Able to manage and sustain professional working relationships with vendors, clients, co-workers.
18. Learn and quickly adapt to company procedures, policies, and unique software(s).
Duties
1. Execute lighting control system energization in conjunction with electrical contractor at construction jobsite.
a. May require low voltage termination
b. May require electrical and electronic troubleshooting on job site
c. May require full job site safety gear attire
d. Will require ability to lift up to 75#
e. Will require ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical and electronics systems
2. Develop and implement lighting control system configuration and programming
3. Upload System Programming
4. Verify system operation to specified parameters
a. Occupancy Sensor settings
b. Daylight Harvesting settings
c. Time Clock settings
d. UI control of lighting loads
5. Prepare system for owner training over system O&M
6. Deliver O&M training to owner’s staff
7. File detailed field service report
8. Other duties as assigned
