What are the responsibilities and job description for the Horticultural Assistant Production Manager position at Glover Perennials?
Glover Perennials is a wholesale grower of perennials, woodies, vines and natives located on the North Fork of Long Island. Our nursery is a leading provider to garden centers, landscape contractors and public gardens in the New York area and beyond. Glover Perennials is currently seeking an Assistant Manager to join our team. This person will be a key member of the production team and serve as a liaison between our potting and propagation teams and assist the production managers.
Activities include:
- Facilitate and oversee the work of the potting, propagation and grower teams
- Management of stock plant and plug inventory
- Assist Production Manager with prioritizing maintenance needs
- Data entry for inventory and production scheduling needs
- Participate on potting and propagation teams when needed, and learn all production related procedures
- Assist Production Manager in maintaining plant health through our Integrated Pest Management program
The ideal candidate has a high level of organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of perennials, a love of working outdoors and getting your hands dirty is required. A degree in horticulture is preferred. Some Spanish language communication skills or a willingness to learn required.
