Company Description
The Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT) is a nationally accredited Main Street District dedicated to the economic vitality and sustainability of historic downtown Gloucester, Virginia. In partnership with the Gloucester Main Street Association and the Gloucester Community Loan Fund, MSPT works to enhance the business environment and quality of life in the community.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for an Executive Director located in Gloucester, VA. The Executive Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, develop and implement strategic plans, manage staff and volunteers, coordinate events and programs, and foster relationships with businesses, community stakeholders, and local government officials. The Executive Director will also be responsible for fundraising, financial management, and promoting the historic Main Street district.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 5 years progressive leadership in nonprofit management, community/economic development, or downtown revitalization
- Proven success in grants/fundraising and budget stewardship
- Exceptional written, verbal, and public-facing communication skills
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and relationship-building ability
Preferred:
- Main Street program experience (state or national level)
- Knowledge of historic preservation, commercial real estate, or small business finance
- Experience supervising staff and managing multi-entity boards
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $60,000–$80,000, depending on experience
- Time Off: 20 days PTO 12 paid holidays

Schedule & Location
Full-time position based in Gloucester, Virginia (on-site presence required with flexible hybrid options). Some evenings and weekends for community meetings and events.
