Glocomms is partnered with a technology-driven organization to recruit a Lead of Platform Engineering & Architecture responsible for leading strategy, governance, and evolution across hybrid infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of senior architects covering areas such as cloud infrastructure, security, software delivery platforms, APIs, and observability.
- Define and operate a structured approach for evaluating, documenting, and communicating major architectural decisions.
- Own the longer-term technical direction for platform capabilities, spanning cloud services, security foundations, observability, and developer tooling.
- Establish and enforce governance practices that promote consistent designs, interface standards, and operational expectations.
- Partner with engineering, product, and delivery teams to set priorities, guide platform strategy, and inform technology investment decisions.
- Develop and maintain reference architectures and reusable design patterns for hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
- Ensure security controls, compliance requirements, and risk considerations are integrated into platform designs by default.
- Define common approaches to monitoring, logging, and telemetry so systems can be operated reliably and transparently.
- Champion automation and self-service capabilities that reduce manual effort and improve developer productivity.
- Collaborate with adjacent architecture and infrastructure teams to ensure cohesive, end-to-end platform solutions.
- Assess the maturity of software delivery platforms and developer workflows, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Produce and review architectural documentation, including standards, design guidance, and recorded decisions.
- Evaluate emerging tools and technologies to determine where they can provide meaningful platform improvements.
- Work closely with security, compliance, and operations partners to strengthen resilience and audit readiness.
- Represent platform architecture perspectives in senior technical discussions and review forums.
- Experience leading platform or enterprise architecture teams in large-scale technical environments.
- Strong hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, including hybrid cloud integration.
- Deep understanding of DevSecOps, CI/CD platforms, and developer enablement practices.
- Experience applying security frameworks and controls within platform and infrastructure designs.
- Solid knowledge of observability and reliability concepts, including tooling for metrics, logging, and tracing (e.g., OpenTelemetry-based ecosystems).
- Demonstrated ability to define and operate architecture governance practices, standards, and decision frameworks.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, product, and operational teams.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior technical stakeholders.
- Proven people leadership and mentoring experience across distributed teams.
- Background working with distributed systems or large-scale infrastructure platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Experience designing or operating containerized platforms using Kubernetes and Git-driven delivery models.
- Familiarity with internal developer platforms or portals and shared engineering services.
- Experience defining and governing API lifecycle management across multiple teams.
- Exposure to regulated or compliance-conscious environments.
- Experience with platform maturity models, capability mapping, or operating model evolution.
- Understanding of how automation or AI-driven tooling can enhance developer or platform workflows.
- Relevant certifications in cloud, security, Kubernetes, or enterprise architecture disciplines.
Salary : $150,000 - $190,000
