Role Summary
The Superintendent – Heavy Civil (SOE) is responsible for overseeing field execution of large-scale infrastructure projects, with a specific focus on support of excavation (SOE) and deep foundation systems. This role requires hands-on leadership across all site operations, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
The position demands strong technical expertise in geotechnical systems, combined with the ability to manage complex logistics and coordinate multidisciplinary teams. The Superintendent will play a critical role in delivering high-value projects exceeding $100M, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and construction standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations for excavation and deep foundation systems, including SOE structures
- Supervise installation of secant piles, caissons, soldier pile and lagging systems, and steel bracing
- Manage daily site activities, subcontractors, and workforce coordination
- Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and internal safety protocols
- Interpret and execute based on construction drawings, structural designs, and geotechnical reports
- Monitor project schedules using Primavera P6 or MS Project
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to resolve field issues
- Maintain quality control standards and ensure adherence to project specifications
- Oversee cost control measures, budgeting alignment, and change order execution
Core Requirements (Must-Have Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred but not mandatory)
- Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction or infrastructure projects
- Demonstrated experience managing projects valued at $100M or higher
- Proven expertise in support of excavation (SOE) systems and deep foundation work
- Strong understanding of geotechnical principles and soil behavior
- Proficiency in construction scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project)
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
