What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Utility Mainline Excavator Operator position at Globe Contractors, Inc.?
We are looking for skilled Excavator Operator for projects in southeastern Wisconsin. The qualified candidate will operate several types and sizes of construction equipment including but not limited to excavators, front-end loaders, dozers, etc.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment of various sizes and weights used in underground construction under various working conditions
- Comply with company and OSHA safety procedures
- Follow daily procedures, production goals, and protocols set forth by project foreman
- Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment
- Help identify any underground and/or overhead utilities that have been located/exposed prior to excavating
- Other projects or duties as assigned by management.
- Continuous communication and coordination with Foreman and/or Superintendent
- Good safety awareness and practices
Requirements and skills
- Teamwork minded
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Very good communication skills
- A problem-solving ability
- Very good physical strength and stamina
- CDL License is preferred, although not required
- Experience operating 100,000 pound excavator/backhoe
- Experience digging and setting pipe at depths of at least 20 feet
- Experience digging with trench boxes and around underground utilities
- Ability to read and comprehend site plans
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of employees
- Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
- Punctuality and dependability are required
- Must be able to work 8 to 12-hour workdays, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekends
- Affiliation with Local 139 Operating Engineers will be required
- Ability to perform manual work requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
