Quality Machinist - Sample Prep

SUMMARY:

Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, Sample Prep is responsible for working on composite materials and products to support quality lab testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares samples to support Lab.
• Quality inspection of sample parts
• Operating power tools, bandsaw, miter saw and belt sander.
• Remove 6”x 6” samples daily from sample oven.
• Uses hand tools to loosen and tighten bolts, etc.
• Completes daily production processes.
• Maintain FIFO records.
• Works individually and in teams.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be able to operate power tools, bandsaw, miter saw and belt sander.
• Must be able to use calipers, tape measure and ruler.
• Works well with multi-functional teams.
• Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment.
• Familiarity with hand tools.
• Must have a positive attitude.
  
  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
  
  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be able to lift, push and pull greater than 50 pounds.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to walk through a large manufacturing environment.
• Repetitive hand and arm movements.
• Occasional bending and twisting.
• Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.
• Constantly communicating with others to exchange information.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to wear PPE as necessary (safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toe shoes, etc.).
  
  

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of work is performed in a manufacturing environment with noise levels within safety limits and acceptable lighting and temperature conditions.
