Job Overview

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Environmental Specialist to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will champion environmental management and regulatory compliance initiatives, ensuring our operations adhere to all environmental health and safety standards. Your expertise will help foster a safe, sustainable workplace while supporting our commitment to environmental stewardship.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, submit, and maintain air permits, stormwater permits, and wastewater discharge permits in compliance with EPA, TCEQ, and local regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental permit requirements by supporting monitoring, operation, and reporting activities for industrial wastewater treatment systems, process equipment, abatement systems, and air pollution control devices.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies for environmental permitting matters.
  • Support environmental compliance aspects of chemical management programs, including chemical inventory reviews, storage requirements, compatibility assessments, and new chemical evaluations.
  • Oversee hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, storage, and disposal in compliance with RCRA and state regulations.
  • Manage recycling and waste minimization programs, coordinate sustainable disposal solutions, and support continuous improvement initiatives that reduce environmental impacts and improve sustainability performance.
  • Maintain waste manifests, profiles, and related records.
  • Prepare and submit all required environmental reports, including emissions inventories, discharge monitoring reports, Tier II, and TRI reporting.
  • · Prepare and submit required environmental reports, maintain compliance documentation, conduct internal audits and inspections, and support regulatory inspections by government agencies.
  • Support development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental programs and compliance systems during facility startup, commissioning, operational ramp, and future expansion activities.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for employees on environmental compliance, waste handling, and pollution prevention.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the site’s Environmental Management System, including ISO 14001 compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with EHS team members and production staff to integrate environmental requirements into daily operations.
  • Support the site’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives by tracking and reporting key environmental performance indicators, including energy consumption, water usage, waste generation, recycling rates, greenhouse gas emissions, and other sustainability metrics.
  • Incident Investigation & Corrective Actions
  • Lead or support investigations of environmental incidents, spills, and compliance deviations; conduct root cause analyses; develop corrective and preventive actions; and verify the effectiveness of implemented solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental compliance, preferably in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of federal, state (Texas/TCEQ), and local environmental regulations.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in permitting, reporting, and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact effectively with regulators, inspectors, and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional certification such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Certified Environmental Professional (CEP).
  • Direct experience with semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environmental programs.
  • Experience leading or supporting regulatory inspections and/or audits.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expertise, talents, characteristics and behaviors which are typically representative, but not all-inclusive, of those commonly associated with the job.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise of environmental regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and apply federal, state and local environmental laws and permitting requirements.
  • Proficiency in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and developing corrective and preventive actions. Efficiently delegate work to ensure tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner. Effectively utilize available and relevant technical tools and resources (e.g., Microsoft Office, other software or hardware, manufacturing systems and equipment, etc.). Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to explain complex concepts among diverse audiences, including senior management.
  • Perform assigned tasks with reliability, honesty and discretion.
  • Display initiative and accept responsibility for own actions to get the job done under minimal supervision.

Work Environment

Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of the job.

Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments, including occasional access to cleanrooms, utility areas, and outdoor facilities.

Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.

Ability to work in areas with moderate noise levels, chemical use, or other typical industrial conditions.

Flexibility to respond to environmental incidents or inspections outside of normal business hours, if needed.
