Position Overview
Global Traffic Control is looking for dependable, Flaggers and Traffic Control Supervisors to support roadway, utility, and construction projects in the field. This position is responsible for helping maintain safe work zones by directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic, setting up and removing traffic control devices, communicating with crews, and following all applicable traffic control plans and safety requirements. Hours and jobsite locations may vary based on project schedules, traffic conditions, weather, and customer needs.
Compensation
- Starting Wage: $24.00 - $34.00, depends on experience and qualifications
Key Responsibilities
- Safely direct vehicle, equipment, and pedestrian traffic through and around active work zones using proper flagging procedures, hand signals, signs, radios, and stop/slow paddles.
- Set up, adjust, maintain, and remove cones, signs, barricades, channelizing devices, and other traffic control equipment according to approved traffic control plans and site conditions.
- Monitor traffic flow, work zone conditions, crew activity, and public safety throughout each shift and report concerns promptly to supervisors or crew leads.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, pedestrians, equipment operators, construction crews, utility crews, supervisors, and customers to help maintain a safe and efficient jobsite.
- Read and follow traffic control plans, jobsite instructions, company safety policies, and applicable roadway work zone requirements.
- Wear required personal protective equipment and maintain awareness of moving traffic, construction equipment, changing weather, and other jobsite hazards.
- Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing traffic control devices and equipment before, during, and after assignments.
- Remain alert, professional, and courteous while working outdoors in a variety of environments, including roadsides, intersections, utilities projects, construction sites, and parking areas.
- Complete basic daily paperwork, time records, site documentation, and incident or safety reports as required.
- Travel to assigned jobsites and be prepared for variable start times, shift lengths, and day or night work depending on project needs.
- Maintain traffic control equipment in good working order and report damaged, missing, or unsafe equipment.
- Support supervisors, crew members, and customers with additional traffic control or jobsite safety tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Current Oregon flagger certification required.
- Traffic Control Supervisor certification preferred with 1-3 years of experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to assigned jobsites required.
- Previous traffic control, construction, utility, roadway, or outdoor labor experience preferred, but not required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for extended periods in outdoor conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, load, and move traffic control equipment such as cones, signs, and barricades.
- Strong attention to safety, clear communication skills, and ability to follow instructions.
- Dependable, punctual, professional, and able to work independently or as part of a crew.
- Comfortable working near moving traffic, construction equipment, and active work zones.
- Ability to pass required drug screening, background checks, and ongoing work eligibility requirements.
