CDL-A Semi Driver - Local Routes (Home Daily)

Transpak Inc. has an excellent reputation in the automotive industry for our fulfillment, light assembly, logistics, warehousing, and distribution services to many OEMs and Tier 1 Suppliers.

We are a family owned company who values our employees and are looking for a Semi Truck Driver to join our team.

The Truck Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting materials between Transpak locations, customers, and suppliers. This is a local driving position, and the driver will be home daily. The role requires strong attention to safety, compliance with DOT regulations, and responsibility for maintaining the company’s fleet of vehicles. The driver will communicate regularly with personnel at various Transpak locations, customer sites, and supplier facilities. The driver will also assist with loading and unloading materials using a forklift when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

· Operate company semi-trucks and other vehicles in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

· Operate company semi-trucks and other vehicles in a safe, professional, and efficient manner.

· Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and company requirements.

· Transport materials locally between Transpak, customer, and supplier locations, ensuring timely delivery.

· Secure cargo for transport using appropriate methods.

· Make regular routes up to 450 miles round trip (approximately twice per week) and daily routes within 100 miles round trip.

· Maintain accurate records, including driving logs, mileage, fuel, and delivery documentation.

· Schedule and coordinate maintenance, inspections, repair and assist with troubleshooting minor issues for all fleet vehicles.

· Take vehicles to the shop for service or repairs and ensure maintenance is completed as scheduled.

· Maintain current vehicle registrations and ensure all documentation is up to date.

· Ensure the entire fleet is clean, safe, and available for use at all times.

· Load and unload trailers as needed, including operating a forklift.

· Communicate effectively with office personal, warehouse staff, management, and external contacts at each location regarding schedules, delays, or vehicle issues.

· Follow all safety procedures and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

· Valid CDL Class A driver’s license.

· Ability to passed a drug test.

· Clean driving record with no recent violations.

· Minimum 5 years of experience operating semi-trucks or similar commercial vehicles.

· Knowledge of DOT regulations, inspection procedures, and safety compliance.

· Ability to schedule and coordinate fleet maintenance and repair work.

· Must be able to operate a forklift for loading and unloading freight.

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in varying weather conditions.

· Strong time management and organizational skills.

· Excellent communication and customer service skills.

· Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience performing or coordinating basic vehicle maintenance.

· Familiarity with local routes and delivery areas in Michigan and surrounding regions.

· Previous experience in a warehouse, shipping, or logistics environment.

Work Schedule

• Local routes only — home daily.
• Average workday: 8–10 hours, Monday through Friday.
• Approximately two trips per week up to 450 miles round trip.
• Daily routes typically within 100 miles round trip.
• Occasional overtime or weekend work may be required based on Transpak’s requirements.

Physical Requirements

· Required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk to hear.

· Required to reach with hands, arms, climb, or balance.

· Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision and depth perception.
