Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Storage Administrator to manage and optimize enterprise storage environments across on-premises and cloud platforms. This role is responsible for the design, administration, and lifecycle management of storage and SAN infrastructure supporting mission-critical workloads across multiple data centers. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, operational discipline, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and support enterprise storage solutions (block, file, and object).
- Manage provisioning and lifecycle operations, including LUN/volume allocation, host mapping, masking, and expansions.
- Administer SAN infrastructure (Cisco MDS), including zoning, VSANs, and fabric performance optimization.
- Manage NAS platforms and file services (SMB/CIFS, NFS v3/v4, Kerberos-enabled environments).
- Monitor and optimize storage performance, availability, and capacity using enterprise tools.
- Troubleshoot complex issues across SAN, NAS, and iSCSI environments; engage vendors as needed.
- Execute BAU changes in alignment with change, incident, and service management processes.
- Support disaster recovery operations, including replication, testing, and incident response.
- Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and maintenance in accordance with lifecycle standards.
- Ensure compliance with security requirements (encryption, vulnerability remediation, audit support).
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and CMDB/inventory records.
- Provide capacity planning, forecasting, and reporting.
- Collaborate with server, virtualization, backup, and cloud teams.
- Lead storage migrations and modernization initiatives.
- Participate in on-call rotation and support critical incidents.
Required Experience
- 7 years of enterprise storage administration experience.
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with platforms such as Dell EMC PowerMax/VMAX, PowerScale (Isilon), and Pure Storage.
- Strong SAN/NAS expertise (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, Cisco MDS, SMB, NFS).
- Experience with storage provisioning, replication, snapshots, and performance tuning.
- Solid troubleshooting across storage, networking, and VMware environments.
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery concepts.
- Experience with ITIL processes (change, incident, ServiceNow).
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Skills
- Scripting/automation experience (PowerShell, Python).
- Experience with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP or similar cloud storage platforms.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud and migration initiatives.
- Knowledge of NetApp ONTAP (SnapMirror, SnapVault).
- Experience in large enterprise environments.
- Relevant certifications (Dell EMC, Cisco, VMware, NetApp).
