Job Summary:
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting enterprise-wide automation efforts for internal logistics processes and materials movement within complex manufacturing environments. This will include the R&D and evaluation of different robotics technologies and building a standard process for implementation. Owning, maintaining, and providing integration of AMR/AGV/VGV products to a 3rd party Fleet Management system and connecting into the existing IT infrastructure. Establishing communication between COTS products and internal systems. This role touches on architecture design, providing best practices, and in some instances, being able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems with robot deployments, both at the networking and infrastructure layers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America (TMNA) Engineering groups and North American Manufacturing Companies (NAMCs) departments to implement Internal Logistics automation systems.
- Challenge and break down the ideal situation and current systems in pursuit of establishing the optimal business process to improve supply chain performance through automation using efficient problem solving and countermeasure development.
- Identify industry leaders in logistics automation and ensure internal product roadmaps align with best strategies and supporting frameworks.
- Lead the transition of development of PoCs and SOWs relating to automating internal logistics processes into production environments while supporting IT requirements and MES/ERP system integration with AMR Fleet management software.
- Able to build requirements traceability matrix linking business requirements to DEVOPS teams around design and implementation of custom software, ranging from low-level robot control code to fleet communication and application development.
- Managing tier 3 escalations from the implementation and support teams focusing on Robotics or industrial automation experience, including familiarity with PLCs, industrial robotics, and industrial communication protocols.
- Commissioning & integration of AMR systems at manufacturing facilities throughout North America.
- Creating system documentation and manuals for end user consumption to include application navigation, How Tos, and Toyota-specific use cases.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Information Systems, or equivalent professional work experience
- 4 years of IT/IS systems
- 2 years IL equipment/automation or similar
- 2 years of experience with a minimum of two platforms: PLCs (Allen Bradley, Toyopuc, Omron, Mitsubishi), AMR Technologies (MIR, Autoguide, Omron, JBT, Creform, OTTO, AIUT/Aformic, Bastian Automation)
- Comfort with Linux, Docker, and Bash
- Proficient understanding of the OSI layer, TCP/IP protocols, and their use-cases
- Proficient in delivering network topology and server architecture topics to various audiences
- Proficient with Linux and the Linux networking stack
- DevOps experience
Preferred Skills:
- Server-side development using NodeJS or Python, implementing APIs and supporting services
- Experience with ROS / Robotics Systems
- 5 years Project Management experience
