Job Summary
Function as the Electrical Sector Americas (ESA) GTM (Global Trade Management) expert at the Group level within the Americas and on-the-ground resource for import compliance matters. Develops and maintains thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations applicable to ES Americas activities. Ensures full deployment of corporate standards throughout ES Americas to all Business Units within the ESA Group. This position will contribute to the development, implementation, and governance of international trade policies to ensure full compliance with US and international regulations regarding the import of materials, goods, and technology. This role will oversee the Electrical Sector-Americas businesses and introduce common processes to optimize client systems to centralize data and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform value reconciliation using the GTM Master Tracker spreadsheet while considering any value adjustments (R&D, Royalties, Assists, Spot Buys, TPAs, and Cost Submission) needed for each site
- Develop and deploy throughout all Business Units within ES Americas Group applicable compliance processes and procedures in conjunction with various other functions within the client and external resources
- Support the client's drawback process and procedure
- Work with the client's drawback leader and approved drawback service provider, and ensure requirements are contract-defined and conform to arrange drawback training for client businesses that focuses on data and information needed for drawback and business unit recordkeeping responsibility
- Enable engagement with the client's business operations to identify drawback opportunities and assign accountability for requirements
- Ensure businesses provide all standardized reporting (sales report, bill of materials, UOM, export audit docs, etc.) in support of duty drawback claims
- Partner with client businesses and various SCM and Finance team members to provide an understanding of impacts related to value reconciliation adjustments and duty drawback opportunities
- Record measurable statistics including value of supporting the privilege of importing, duty drawback timely claim filings, value reconciliation reviews and timely claim filings, compliance levels via audit and assessment, and process standardization and deployment of centralized services that drive trade costs out across all businesses
Required Experience
- 5–9 years of trade management and trade regulations experience
- 5–7 years of direct import and/or export compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm
- Working knowledge of international trade regulations covering the areas of duty minimization programs, such as drawback, valuation, and the recordkeeping and auditing requirements to support the reductions being claimed
- Familiarity with the application of rules of origin with more than one free trade agreement
- Working knowledge regarding the service capabilities, roles, and responsibilities of customs brokers, freight forwarders, and logistics service providers
- Proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements
- Experience working with client business functions and GTM network
- Working knowledge of the import trade regulations covering the products produced by the client

- Subject-matter expertise in all relevant areas of trade compliance
- Subject matter expert in import matters
- HTS & FTA knowledge
- Knowledge of audit and assessment procedures and evaluation of risk
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel audit formulas)
- Data analytics experience to assess potential savings opportunities
- Knowledge of ERP processes
- Must be adaptable and resilient to constant changes in job duties, priorities, and the internal/external business and regulatory environment
