Global Technical Systems (GTS) provides innovative, cost-effective, high-tech engineering products and product-based services encompassing latest generation software and hardware solutions and engineering services for defense, homeland security, and other critical Government interests. GTS products and services span a spectrum that includes mission-critical combat systems processors; C4ISR; technology development including threat detection, biometric identification systems, and composite applications for munitions, armor and energy storage; avionics test systems; and lifecycle logistics support and repair. Our Headquarters office in Virginia Beach, VA is searching for a highly skilled and knowledgeable Production Planner to work on-site.
General Description:
The Production Planner works with a dynamic team to ensure that products and services are of the right quality and quantity to meet the demands of the customer.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform Material Requirements Planning.
- Identify material requirements for new programs/orders.
- Update requirements based on damaged or lost items.
- Sync material due dates with the expected release date for kits.
- Tracking material due dates and shortages.
- Identify material that will delay production.
- Work with the procurement team to expedite material to support production schedules.
- Interact with Inventory to get shortages released to the floor.
- Create/Release Manufacturing Orders (MO)/MO Travelers for kitting.
- Coordinate with QA to prioritize inspection points (i.e. Incoming, In-Process, & Final QA).
- Update MO requirements based on revision changes, GFM, RMAs, damaged, or lost parts.
- Take care of MRB items. Determine if parts need to be RMA’ed, repaired, re-ordered, or scrapped.
- Submit PR request for items that need to be replaced, floor stock, and tooling, etc.
- Develop and review MBOMs for accuracy and provides input for labor estimates.
- Analyze production specifications and plant capacity data to determine manufacturing processes, equipment, and human resource requirements.
- Develop production schedules with timelines for material lead times, kitting, production, test, QA, and shipping.
- Estimate build start dates (driven by material availability/personnel).
- Confer with department supervisors to determine status of assigned projects.
- Analyze, recommend, and implement recovery plans, as appropriate.
- Ensure quality and on time delivery of products.
- Ensure Health and Safety Standards are met at all times.
Work Experience Requirements:
- Production Planning, Estimating, Scheduling, Communication, Collaboration, Detail Focus, MRP, ISO, MS Office
- Familiar with Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and assembly drawings.
- Understanding of the manufacturing process and the flow of product through kitting, assembly, test, and QA.
Educational Requirements (or equivalent):
High School Diploma
Essential Skills/Experience:
2 years’ experience in production planning within the Government Contracting Field
Beneficial Skills Experience:
Deltek/Costpoint or other MRP experience
Proficient with MS Project/MS Office
Self-starter/resourceful
