Description:
SUMMARY
Maintains quality standards by approving incoming materials, in-process production, and finished products; recording quality results.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recording quality results
- Maintain good housekeeping in general work area
- Model cooperation and teamwork
- Police PPE procedures
- Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
- Approve in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; communicating required adjustments to production supervisor.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests; returning products for re-work; confirming re-work.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; summarizing re-work and waste; inputting data into quality database.
- Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; participating in training events.
- Accomplish quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
- Ability to do inspection layouts of parts.
- Ensures manufacturing practices are current, consistent and compliant with GSS Policies and Procedures, all external state/federal regulations and customer requirements.

Requirements:EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two years of experience with manufacturing in a quality control function preferred
COMPETENCIES – KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS/BEHAVIORS
- Experience with manufacturing and mechanical blueprints
- Reading, writing and mathematical level necessary to competently perform job duties
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical principles
- Ability to use, advanced shop mathematics and handbook formulas
- PC literacy
- Ability to use shop math, addition, multiplication, division, factions, percent, decimals, and algebra
- Understanding of inch and metric system
- Knowledge of micrometers, verniers, testers, gage blocks, dial indicators, depth gages, comparators, view machines
- Knowledge of statistics preferred
- Good communications skills
ADDITIONAL NOTES
- Position requires the ability to lift, bend, good hand dexterity, visual inspection and some manual handling not to exceed 35 pounds.
