Position Summary
The Assistant Controller plays a key leadership role within the Finance team, supporting the VP of Finance in overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, and compliance activities. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records while helping drive process improvements and operational efficiencies within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with strong manufacturing accounting experience, exceptional analytical skills, and the ability to partner effectively with operations and business leaders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in managing the daily operations of the accounting department, including fixed assets, general ledger, and cost and inventory accounting.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, labor utilization, and operational performance metrics.
- Review inventory transactions, cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory reconciliations.
- Monitor capital expenditures and fixed asset accounting.
- Support external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Develop financial analyses and reports for management decision-making.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
- Partner with operations, purchasing, production, and leadership teams to improve financial performance and reporting accuracy.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within accounting and finance functions.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Minimum 2-3 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting, and cost accounting required.
- Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-location environment is preferred.
- ERP system experience required; experience with manufacturing ERP systems preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
