Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure product and process quality in our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality systems, root cause analysis, and lean manufacturing principles, with a passion for solving problems and improving performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support Quality improvement projects across manufacturing processes to reduce internal defects, supplier defects, customer quality escapes, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.
- Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection instructions, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Supply Chain) to ensure quality standards are met throughout the product lifecycle.
- Perform data analysis on quality metrics and present findings to management with actionable recommendations.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO 9001 or other relevant standards as needed
- Monitor and improve supplier quality performance through audits and corrective actions as needed
- Train and mentor production staff on quality standards, tools and best practices.
- Travel between 3 sites within a commuting distance of 5 miles.
- 1-2 years of Manufacturing Quality improvement experience with an Engineering degree OR 3 Plus years of experience with an associate degree from Technical Community College. Fresh graduates interested in developing a career in Quality will also be considered.
- Knowledge of quality tools such as APQP, FMEA, CTQ, SPC, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, Pareto, and control charts are a plus.
- Experience in Sheet Metal Fabrication, Welding, Paint and Electrical/Mechanical Assembly processes is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (MS Excel, Minitab, or similar); Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Epicor) and SharePoint is a plus.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Certification (CQE, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt) is a plus.
- Fluent in English, additional languages like Spanish an advantage
