Revenue Cycle Transport Authorization Specialist
On-Site: Pompano Beach, FL
Hourly Compensation: $18 - $20/hr DOE
Monday - Friday 10am to 6pm Eastern
The Transport Authorization Department (TAD) Specialist is responsible for authorization management of non-emergency transports. TAD Specialists work with Communications, Operations, payors, and billing to ensure appropriate paperwork is obtained before or around the time of the patient’s transport.

The Transport Authorization Department (TAD) Specialist is responsible for authorization management of non-emergency transports. TAD Specialists work with Communications, Operations, payors, and billing to ensure appropriate paperwork is obtained before or around the time of the patient’s transport.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and/or authorizations.
- Review non-emergency transports to identify appropriate payor and determine if an authorization is required.
- Follow established processes to request and/or obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports.
- Work with Communications to ensure adequate and appropriate levels of service are dispatched for non-emergency transports.
- Manage Authorization work bin to ensure payor requirements are met.
- Process customer complaints quickly by receiving, investigating, redirecting or, resolving the issue.
- Develop and sustain excellent working relationships with AMR professionals (e.g., Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance), as well as with the Company’s clients, payors, consultants, banks and financial intermediaries and government agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required
- EMT certification/licensure preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in full-cycle medical billing required
- Experience in medical industry/healthcare required
- Must have current working knowledge of various tools including but not limited to Microsoft Office, QWERTY keyboard, basic computer and software function.
- Previous experience working with general public preferred
- General knowledge of medical and insurance industry terminology required
- Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid guidelines related to ambulance billing preferred
- Must have knowledge of HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley and other critical governmental regulations within one (1) month of hire date
