Janitorial Supervisor

Duties

• Supervise and coordinate daily janitorial activities, including general cleaning, window cleaning, floor care, and pressure washing.
• Train and mentor custodial staff on proper cleaning techniques, equipment use, chemical handling, and infection control procedures.
• Ensure all cleaning tasks meet health and safety standards by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following sanitation regulations.
• Oversee the use of cleaning equipment such as vacuums, floor buffers, pressure washers, and laundry machines to guarantee optimal performance.
• Conduct quality inspections to verify cleanliness levels in all areas and address any deficiencies promptly.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals while ensuring proper storage and handling.
• Implement and monitor procedures for heavy lifting, manual handling, and safe movement of equipment or materials.
• Collaborate with management to develop schedules that optimize efficiency while minimizing disruption to building occupants.
• Respond swiftly to urgent cleaning needs or incidents requiring infection control measures or sanitation protocols.
• Foster excellent customer service by addressing client concerns professionally and ensuring a positive experience for all building users.

Qualifications

• Proven custodial or janitorial experience with a strong understanding of commercial cleaning practices.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise teams effectively while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques including window cleaning, floor care (stripping, waxing), and pressure washing.
• Experience handling chemicals safely in accordance with safety data sheets (SDS) guidelines.
• Familiarity with infection control procedures and sanitation protocols relevant to various environments.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, pressure washers, and laundry machines competently.
• Strong physical stamina with the capacity for heavy lifting, manual handling, and extended periods of standing or walking.
• Excellent communication skills with a focus on customer service and team collaboration.
• Certification or training in the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is preferred but not required.
