About Global Logistics, Inc. (GLI)

Global Logistics, Inc. (GLI) is a veteran-owned, family-operated 4PL and transportation management company that has been helping shippers save time and money since 1996.

For nearly 30 years, we've built our business on long-term relationships, operational excellence, and doing the right thing for our customers. While many logistics providers have become increasingly transactional, GLI has remained focused on partnership, accountability, and service.

Today, we support clients across parcel, LTL, truckload, international, and specialized transportation programs through a combination of technology, carrier relationships, and hands-on logistics expertise. Our average customer relationship exceeds 10 years, reflecting the trust and consistency we've worked hard to earn.

We are headquartered in Plano, Texas, and operate in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment where ideas are valued, leaders are empowered, and integrity is non-negotiable.

Location & Work Environment

This position is based out of our Plano, Texas headquarters. Team members are expected to work in the office 3-4 days per week, with flexibility for remote work based on business needs.

We believe collaboration happens best when people work together, solve problems together, and build relationships face-to-face. At the same time, we value flexibility and trust our team to operate like owners.

About the Role

We are hiring a Director of Transportation to lead, scale, and optimize our entire freight network across every mode: parcel, LTL, volume/partial, full truckload, sprinter/box truck, expedite, intermodal, drayage, and specialized freight.

This is a high-impact leadership role for a proven logistics operator with deep multimodal experience and a track record of building profitable freight programs. You will own transportation strategy, carrier management, pricing, service performance, and operational execution across our entire network.

If you've built or scaled freight operations at a top brokerage, 3PL, or 4PL (such as CH Robinson, TQL, Echo, RXO, Coyote, Uber Freight, or similar organizations) or have managed multimodal freight at a large shipper, we'd love to talk. Candidates who have experience on both the shipper and service provider side will stand out.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Vice President of Operations and works closely with executive leadership to shape transportation strategy, carrier partnerships, operational processes, and future growth initiatives.

The Director of Transportation will have significant influence over how GLI's freight operations evolve and scale in the years ahead.

  • Identify high-value lanes, modal optimization opportunities, and cost-saving strategies.

Drive Revenue & Grow Accounts

Carrier Network Leadership

Carrier Vetting, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Implement best-in-class carrier onboarding and compliance standards.
  • Ensure safety, insurance, and regulatory requirements are met across all modes.
  • Monitor carrier scorecards and proactively mitigate operational risk.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee routing, mode selection, service recovery, and exception management.

Technology, Data & TMS Ownership

  • Lead TMS implementation, optimization, and workflow design.
  • Build tracking, visibility, and reporting capabilities across all modes.

  • Create a culture of accountability, urgency, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

  • 7-10 years of experience in multimodal transportation, brokerage, 3PL, or 4PL operations.
  • Experience managing multiple transportation modes within a shipper, 3PL, brokerage, or 4PL environment is strongly preferred.
  • Background at a top-tier brokerage, 3PL, or 4PL strongly preferred.
