Job Title: Accounting Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to join our team on a temporary basis, part-time (25hrs/weekly), for approximately 3-6 months. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations of the Finance team, including but not limited to, accounts payable, month-end close, and office support for multiple locations.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
The Accounting Clerk will support full-cycle accounting, collaborating closely with the Controller and other Accounting Staff. Key tasks focus on accounts payable and office support for the successful maintenance of the general ledger and financial report generation including:
Accounts Payable:
- Process accounts payable invoices, attaching supporting backup documentation in QBO, reconcile vendor statements, investigate vendor discrepancies, and initiate payments via check, credit card, ACH and/or wires.
- Upon issuance of payments, create positive pay files for banking.
- Ensure appropriate general ledger allocation/coding is accurate for both vendor expenses and employee reimbursements.
- Ensure that case-related costs are entered into the law firm software, Clio, and filed appropriately with the client-related files in DropBox.
- Record contingency payments received and coordinate remittance to clients for their share of the contingency receipts.
- Maintenance of vendor set-up, control of W9s, and assisting with the 1099 annual reporting requirements.
- Assist Controller with preparation of other compliance/tax filings such as 571-L business property taxes.
General Ledger/Other:
- Assist with general ledger account reconciliations and preparation of journal entries as requested by Controller, including but not limited to processing banking feed transactions into Quickbooks Online.
- Assist with office administration tasks, including but not limited to, ordering office and breakroom supplies, meals as requested, membership renewals, internal events, travel arrangements and facilities coordination.
- Other duties and support and assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance-related field desired, but not required.
- Minimum two years of proven experience in accounting or related field, preferably in a law firm.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills and the ability to spot numerical errors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft products, preferably with pivot tables and lookup experience.
- Proficient in accounting software (preferably Quickbooks Online).
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to manage sensitive, confidential information with the utmost discretion.
- Team player with a positive attitude.
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $26.00 - $28.00 per hour
