Global Learning Opportunities organizes short-term, faculty-led, multi-destination study abroad programs focusing on a range of academic areas that are designed to provide students with their ‘first business trip abroad’ experience. GLO programs empower individuals to develop global competency using research and experience to determine trends, complexities, and opportunities for business around the world. While we have specialized in international business since our founding in 1976, our expertise has expanded far beyond business curricula. We regularly organize programs in area studies, art, communication, history, language, law, political science, and more in both traditional and virtual formats. GLO operates in over 25 different countries, giving our participants direct experience in international markets. We have operated over 700 programs in a variety of disciplines, contributing to the scholastic and personal growth of more than 35,000 alumni.
Responsibilities and Qualities of the IT Specialist
As an IT Specialist at Global Learning Opportunities, you will advance and support the digital transformation of the company. Nurture the team’s success by administering the network, security, server, and software tools used by the company and providing technical assistance to your teammates. A broad skill set that includes comfort with AI, network and NAS technologies, security systems, RMM ticketing systems to deal with IT issues as they occur, office productivity suites and work management platforms, and hardware systems such as desktop and laptop computers and printers is beneficial.
The ability to identify and close any skill-gaps quickly through observation and self-study is desired and encouraged. Excellent communication skills and willingness to iterate on projects that require investment of time and creativity will serve this position well. Equally, sound research and reporting skills to demonstrate viability of decisions you make in this role are valuable. Basic accounting skills to manage your technology budget will be helpful.
Qualifications of the IT Specialist:

· Knowledge of work management platforms and automation integration platforms a major plus.
Responsibilities of the IT Specialist
· Read, update, and complete tasks posted to our IT ticketing system.
· Propose and complete projects related to the digital transformation of GLO across implementation of AI efficiencies to digitization of legacy processes.
· Foster the reliable operation of GLO software tools with administrative privileges on network, security, phone, work management, and CRM platforms.
· Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
· Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., FERPA, GDPR, CCPA) and internal privacy policies.
· Provide technical support to team members, including on-boarding and off-boarding employees with equipment and software, including setup of equipment and peripherals.
· Report on and address technology inventory needs.
· Provide occasional after-hours or on-call support as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Additional responsibilities and duties include:
· Build, manage, and automate well-documented workflows and task tracking systems in our work management platform alongside fellow administrators.
· Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend tools that improve team productivity and security. Regularly track and present solutions to cybersecurity concerns.
· Document IT systems, processes, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure continuity, cost effectiveness, and knowledge sharing.
· Occasionally engage in physical activities such as lifting boxes of 25-30 lbs., arrange computer systems and monitors in conference and office room settings, and ensure good cable and power cord management for staff safety.
· Contribute to long-term IT strategy and planning aligned with organizational goals.

Schedule and Compensation:
This is a full-time position in-office. Starting pay is $50,000 per year.
