What are the responsibilities and job description for the Academic Coach - ELA position at Global Leadership Academy?
The Instructional Coach will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Instructional Coach will help teachers analyze student data and support teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment. In order to meet this purpose, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized, 1:1 support based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers. The Instructional Coach will report to the Assistant Principal regularly, and the Principal, as necessary.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (may include, but not limited to the following)
Analyzes class and grade level data for the purpose of sharing information with teachers/staff and making informed decisions relative to instructional practices
Assists in collection of baseline data for the school.
Facilitate meetings of Professional Learning Communities.
Observe teacher practice and provide feedback to individual teachers.
Support teachers and staff in the use of school data systems.
Support school-based administration and school leadership teams.
Demonstrate willingness to assume leadership positions.
Provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers as needed.
Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.
Assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment data when requested.
Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested.
Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.
Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum.
Provide teachers resources related to instruction and curriculum.
Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
Model effective, differentiated instruction when requested.
Provide encouragement and emotional support to teachers.
Encourage ongoing professional growth for all teachers.
Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize teacher schedules and learning.
Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction and assessments.
Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers.
Possess an understanding of when to contact administrators regarding issues of safety/ethics.
Participate fully in professional development for coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions.
Assist teachers in aligning their teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum and assessments.
Work collaboratively and collegially with other Instructional Coaches, curriculum specialists and district specialists.
Look into/research new research-based programs and curriculums as necessary for the teachers.
Perform duties as assigned by the Principal.
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of:
Professional development of teachers with a focus on improving student achievement.
How positive work relationships affect teachers and Administration.
Research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance.
Individualized, classroom-based coaching with participants to support them in their needs as necessary.
Ability To
Prepare teachers in providing a rich and engaging teaching environment to meet students’ needs.

To establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.
Training, Education, And Experience
Florida Department of Education Certificate in appropriate content.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
Experience in instruction in the areas of remediation and enrichment
Experience in instruction in professional development
Working Environment
Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience
The work environment is in school site settings.

Paid Time Off (pto)
The(position) shall be required to follow a (twelve) 12-month work schedule.
The position shall be granted ten accrued (10) PTO days and ten (10) vacation days annually. Calculated and prorated on an annualized basis upon approval by the Board.
