What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mankato-Based Somali Interpreter – In-Person position at Global Language Connections?
Global Language Connections provides interpreting and translation services to hospitals, clinics, and legal and education sectors. We are currently seeking a professional Somali interpreter for an in-person assignment in the Mankato/St. Peter area.
This is a short-term contract position running from April 1st through June 15th

Core Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, in-person interpreting services
- Follow the Interpreter Code of Ethics at all times
- Maintain professionalism with clients and staff
- Submit completed client worksheets within 24 hours of each appointment
Qualifications:
- Fluency in English and Somali
- Strong time-management and communication skills
- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Prior interpreting experience preferred
- Medical or legal interpreter training preferred (e.g., 40-hour CoreCHI training)
- Reliable transportation (required for in-person work)
- Must be 18 years or older
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Must pass a background check
- Proof of U.S. work authorization required
- Completed immunization records preferred
