Role Description This is a full time role for a K9 Handler. The K9 Handler will work with trained detection dogs to conduct security screenings for air cargo and other assigned environments, following company protocols and regulatory standards. Daily tasks include managing dog care and readiness, monitoring dog behavior and performance, conducting searches of cargo and facilities, and accurately documenting screening activities. The role involves collaborating with operations teams and clients, maintaining equipment and safety procedures related to explosives detection, and participating in ongoing training to uphold certification and performance standards. The K9 Handler is expected to follow established safety guidelines, maintain professional communication, and adapt to changing operational needs and schedules.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated understanding of dog behavior and handling techniques, with the ability to care for and work effectively with detection dogs.
- Background in military, law enforcement, or emergency services, or equivalent experience in security operations and high-risk environments.
- Knowledge of explosives safety, search procedures, and relevant security protocols, with a commitment to strict compliance standards.
- Experience in training, including participation in K9 training programs, skill maintenance, and adherence to certification requirements.
- Strong observational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow structured procedures and documentation requirements.
- Reliable transportation, flexibility to work varied hours, and ability to operate independently while collaborating with remote teams.
- Ability to meet physical requirements of the role, including standing, walking, and handling dogs and equipment in varied environments.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional security, K9, or public safety certifications are beneficial.
