Duties
- Conduct thorough psychological evaluations and diagnostic assessments to identify students’ cognitive, emotional, and behavioral needs.
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique strengths and challenges.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions focused on child & family counseling, social skills development, and behavioral health.
- Lead crisis intervention efforts by managing safety plans, conflict resolution, and crisis management strategies to support students in distress.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to coordinate case management and ensure comprehensive support for students with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Utilize applied behavior analysis (ABA) techniques and behavior management strategies to promote positive behaviors and skill development.
- Conduct psychological testing and assessments related to early intervention, autism spectrum disorders, or other developmental conditions.
- Prepare detailed medical documentation, maintain accurate medical records, and utilize medical terminology appropriately within reports.
- Assist in the development of social work initiatives that enhance student well-being and family engagement.
- Manage intake processes for new students requiring psychological services or special education support.
- Support educators in implementing behavioral health strategies within classrooms and facilitate staff training on mental health awareness.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review progress and adjust intervention plans as needed.
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in educational settings or clinical environments is essential.
- Demonstrated expertise in school psychology practices including psychological testing, diagnostic evaluation, and case management.
- Strong background in working with students with disabilities, including those with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of special education laws (such as IDEA) and experience developing IEPs is required.
- Experience providing individual or group counseling focused on behavioral health, social skills, or crisis intervention is highly valued.
- Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA), behavior management techniques, and safety planning enhances your effectiveness in this role.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism while managing conflict effectively during crisis situations.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including educators, families, healthcare providers, and social workers.
- Prior school experience is preferred but not mandatory; relevant clinical experience working with children is also highly regarded.
