What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Relation Assistant position at Global Hub?
At Global Hub, we believe communication should do more than inform—it should connect, inspire, and drive real impact. Based in the heart of Austin, we’re a growing strategic marketing and communications agency that works with a wide mix of clients across lifestyle, corporate, hospitality, and non-profit sectors. From emerging startups to globally recognized brands, we help organizations craft compelling stories and earn meaningful attention.
We’re currently looking for a Public Relations Assistant to join our expanding team. This is an opportunity for someone at the early stage of their career who wants to dive into the world of PR, gain practical experience, and grow in a collaborative, fast-paced agency environment.
You’ll play a key role in supporting media relations efforts, campaign planning, and day-to-day client communications. Whether it’s researching journalists, tracking press coverage, drafting messaging, or helping coordinate interviews and events, your contributions will directly support our mission to deliver smart, strategic communications that build trust and visibility for our clients.
This is an on-site role in Austin, ideal for someone who thrives in a team environment, learns by doing, and is eager to be part of an agency where no two days are the same.
- Assisting in the development of press materials including releases, media alerts, and backgrounders
- Supporting proactive outreach to media contacts and helping build relationships with reporters across various beats and regions
- Monitoring media coverage and preparing detailed reporting and performance summaries for clients
- Contributing to the planning and execution of press events, client campaigns, and brand activations
- Researching industry trends, competitor activity, and relevant media targets to inform campaign strategy
- Maintaining internal media databases, calendars, and content tracking systems
- Collaborating with account teams to keep client work organized, accurate, and on schedule
You should have a degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related discipline, and ideally 6 to 12 months of experience in a PR or communications role (internships absolutely count). Strong writing, research, and organizational skills are essential, as is a proactive mindset and the confidence to contribute ideas in a fast-moving environment.
You don’t need to be an expert yet—but you should be someone who genuinely enjoys the news cycle, is curious about how stories get told, and is ready to roll up your sleeves and contribute.
You’ll gain real exposure to client-facing work, learn directly from senior team members, and build a strong foundation in strategic communication.
