Role Description The Writer is a full-time, on-site role based in Chesapeake, VA. This position is responsible for crafting clear, engaging written materials such as newsletters, event summaries, social media copy, and other chapter communications. The Writer will collaborate with chapter leadership to develop content that reflects organizational goals, supports member engagement, and promotes events and initiatives. Daily tasks include drafting and revising content, maintaining a consistent voice and style, gathering information from members and officers, and ensuring all communications are accurate and timely. The role may also involve supporting basic content planning, coordinating with design or marketing volunteers, and contributing ideas to improve the chapter’s visibility and outreach.
Qualifications
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and engaging content for various audiences.
  • Ability to research, gather, and synthesize information from multiple sources to create accurate and informative written materials.
  • Basic familiarity with content planning or communication strategies, including organizing topics and maintaining a consistent voice.
  • Comfort using common digital tools (e.g., word processing software, collaborative platforms, and social media) to create and share content.
  • Excellent attention to detail, including grammar, punctuation, and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with chapter officers, members, and partners.
  • Relevant coursework or experience in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field is beneficial.
