Position: BELL ATTENDANT / DRIVER

SUMMARY:
The Bell Attendant/Driver works closely with the front desk guest services staff, Management and other hotel departments in providing guest assistance with luggage, transportation and miscellaneous needs. Greet and welcome all guest to the hotel and relieve guests of their luggage on arrival. Ensure that the highest standards of hospitality and welcome are demonstrated at all times, and that all guest requests are dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greet guests in a friendly manner and offer assistance with luggage.
- Operate and drive the courtesy van/shuttle while following policies regarding operating company vehicles.
- To be present at the Reception desk or in the lobby to be ready to assist guests, colleagues and visitors when requested.
- Ensure collection and delivery of guest luggage and equipment in an efficient and timely manner.
- Assists guests with luggage to the front desk.
- Escorts guests to room, placing luggage in room assigned by front desk.
- Delivers faxes, messages, packages and flowers to guests rooms and other offices.
- Provide items on loan to guest and collect the items back from guest before departure.
- Transport departing guests luggage from the room to the lobby, then into a car or taxi after reconfirming with the guest.
- Carefully load and unload guest bags & luggage. Lift luggage, packages and boxes gently, placing items in/out of the vehicle, on the ground, onto baggage carts, etc. Ensure guest does not leave any belongings in vehicle. Use appropriate safety lifting techniques when loading and unloading.
- Respond to guest requests and queries providing a knowledgeable, efficient and helpful information service.
- Assist with answering the telephone and taking messages, transferring calls or dealing with enquiries.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with Employee Handbook and all policies and rules it contains.
- Must adhere to all work rules, procedures, and policies established by the company, including, but not limited to, those contained in the Employee Handbook, Safety Manual, and operating guides.
- Operators of company vehicles are responsible for the safe operation and cleanliness of the vehicle.
- Exhibit safe driving habits, follow all traffic laws, and serve as an outstanding example to the community.
- Remain calm and alert especially during emergencies or heavy hotel activity and handle complications from driving in the local community. Use extra caution during bad weather and/or heavy traffic.
- Keep the temperature of the vehicle at a reasonable temperature suitable for all passengers based on outside temperatures.
- No loud or profane music permitted in vehicle at any time.
- Smoking, including use of e-cigarettes, is prohibited in company vehicles.
- Only designated company employees who are specifically authorized to drive the company vehicle(s) are permitted to do so.
- Company vehicles are not to be used for personal use.
- Unauthorized passengers are not permitted in company vehicles at any time.
- Do not drive the company vehicle to any location other than authorized pickup/drop off locations. The General Manager must approve any exceptions or guest requests to unauthorized locations.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Changes in driving record must be reported to the General Manager immediately.
- Wear proper attire at all times in accordance with the Company Dress Code.
- Other duties as assigned, of which employee is capable of performing.
DRIVER LEGAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Comprehend and abide by all traffic regulations while transporting customers to and from the airport terminals, shopping centers, businesses, or other points of service and guest interest that you are instructed to by the General Manager in the area you are permitted to drive.
- In the event of an accident, ensure that you contact the local authorities immediately as well as your General Manager. Ensure that you get all of the proper information from the other party as well as statements – if applicable from any passengers upon getting back to the hotel safely. Ensure proper company incident forms are completed with General Manager.
- Report any and all routine traffic stops by DOT or any local authority to General Manager promptly and within the same day before shift ends.
- Ensure the use of seat belts – it is mandatory for operators and passengers of company vehicles to use seat belts in compliance with all local, state, and federal traffic laws.
- Ensure the number of passengers do not exceed the vehicles seating capacity.
- Ensure vehicle operation must conform to safe driving practices and not reflect exhibitions of speeding, recklessness, rudeness, or road rage.
- Using a mobile cell phone to talk or text while operating a company vehicle is strictly forbidden and is cause for immediate termination.
- Under no circumstances drive while under the influence of prescribed or over the counter medication, alcohol, or any controlled or mind-altering substance that affects your ability to make sound judgements and conduct yourself in a safe manner.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1 years work experience - Previous hospitality experience preferred.
- Must have a clean driver's license with a least 2 years driving experience on a full license.
- Computer Knowledge/Skills: MS Windows, Property Management Software preferred.
- Professional in appearance and presentation.
- Excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Repeated bending, stooping, and lifting weights up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to follow instructions, detail-oriented, service mined, multi-task, and ability to work independently.
