Our clients include foundations, industry, NGOs, government agencies, academic institutions, and product development partnerships.
At present, GHS has approximately 50 staff in the NY Headquarters and approximately 100 staff and consultants in our regional offices.
This role is based in New York City, with an expectation of 3 days per week in the office.
About The Position
The Accounting Associate, reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Analysis, provides comprehensive accounting and analysis support for a client-service organization specializing in global health communications, advocacy, research, and strategy.
Specific Responsibilities Will Include
Accounts Receivable/Payable – responsible for processing accounts receivable/payable, including but not limited to preparing monthly invoices, supporting the timesheet system (SPP) ensuring appropriate authorizations, ensuring prompt payments to vendors, consultants, and staff; posting expenses; reviewing, allocating and posting monthly journals including payroll, credit card expenses, accruals, etc.
General Ledger Management – manages data entry of all financial transactions, including AP/AR, payroll, direct expenses and other accruals. Ensures that allocations to projects and grants are appropriately made and in line with budget.
Payroll & Expense Reporting – collects and reviews timesheets as well as expense reports from staff and consultants. The Associate works closely with the Manager to facilitate bi-weekly payroll administration and entry into general ledger.
Grants Management and Accounting – responsible for managing all grant accounting and allocations. Manage grant budgets along with program managers to ensure appropriate spend down of grant. Support all grant financial reporting in partnership with the team leadership.
Financial analysis- support to the Manager of Accounting (and other senior members of the Operations team) in preparation of financial analytics including annual budget, cash flow analysis, budget versus actual, YOY financial analysis, project profitability, utilization data, etc.
Month & Year End Close and Company Consolidation – supports the monthly and year end closing process including balance sheet review, preparing allocations and bank reconciliations, and preparing customized reporting for senior staff (budget vs actual, variance & quarterly/year end reporting). Reviews monthly consolidated results for the firm.
Finance & Operations Administrative Support – provides overall support of the Finance & Operations Team managing electronic and paper files, updating, and maintaining the general database of contacts and participates in other administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications Of The Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred
- 3-4 years of experience in an accounting position
- Strong knowledge and experience in General Ledger transaction posting, adept at navigating accounting databases; NetSuite experience a plus
- Proficient at generating financial analyses in excel and understanding business data
- Proficient with MS Office, intermediate to advanced level Excel skills, including pivot tables
- Demonstrated ability to deal with multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously /outstanding time management and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to report on complex data in an understandable manner
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
