Job description:
Global Harvest Foods is a leading National Wild Bird, Caged Bird and small Critter/Pet food manufacturer.
We are a mature but growing company with an outstanding opportunity for a Grain Handler with CDL License to join our team in Akron, CO. This position will be responsible for ensuring all products are received accurately and timely as well as ensuring all necessary tests and checks are performed as prescribed in the SOP.
The primary tasks will include but are not limited to:
- CDL License is required for this role to move trailers on-site.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of the commodities handled at the location and comply with company policy and government regulations pertaining to commodities.
- Prepare trucks and railcars for loading/unloading.
- Load and unload agricultural commodities from railcars and/or trucks using heavy or light duty machinery/equipment.
- Control and monitor all inbound and outbound load functions.
- Understand and operate legs/cleaners/dump systems.
- Monitor and maintain quantity of inventory.
- Operate machinery such as skid loaders, tractors, and forklifts.
- Conduct regular housekeeping duties such as sweeping, shoveling, power washing, scraping and cleaning up spills.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Agriculture experience preferred.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations with limited information.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
- Experience operating skid loaders, tractors, forklifts and cleaners.
- Ability to lift 75lbs.
- Must be able to climb rail cars, ladders, stairs, and bins.
- Valid driver's license.
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and team-oriented, with strong communication skills.
