General Definition: Assists for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary barn and racetrack environment through the proper collection, handling, and disposal of animal waste and related materials. The Waste Management Laborer supports daily operations by ensuring stalls, walkways, and surrounding areas meet cleanliness standards while adhering to company safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
- Collect, remove, and properly dispose of horse manure and waste.
- Maintain proper storage and disposal of waste materials.
- Support waste handling procedures in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Operate basic equipment used for waste removal.
- Monitor cleanliness and report any sanitation or safety concerns.
- Immediately report problems with tools, equipment, or work assignments directly to the on-duty supervisor or lead.
- Participate in meetings, training, and other company-related activities as scheduled.
- Seek out the assistance of supervisors to address questions and concerns.
- Follow all safety procedures in accordance with Company, and Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission (OHRC) rules.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED Required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to operate a golf cart or gator.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of heavy equipment and trucking operations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of intermodal container maintenance is preferred.
- Working knowledge compliance issues related to Waste Acceptance Criteria.
- Ability to carry/lift several instruments, equipment, or tools while walking extensively
- Demonstrated ability to analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, and make sound recommendations.
- Ability to work in confined areas, tanks, heat stress conditions, high noise and areas with chemical hazards.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to work a flexible and irregular schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays.
Training and Experience:
- Minimum of one (1) year working with a ranch, livestock, agricultural, or racetrack barn operations required.
- Prior experience in safety and compliance is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications/Other:
- Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screening with a negative result.
