JOB OVERVIEW
The Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for the proficient operation of a standup/sit down forklift. Adhering to all safety protocols, trainings and certifications to ensure a smooth workflow in receiving and moving products within our facility.
DUTIES
- Visually inspect and verify all incoming shipments against the bill of lading and or invoice to ensure accuracy. (receiving only)
- Inspect and verify all outgoing shipments against the shipper and accompanying bill of lading to confirm correctness.
- Accurately record the shipment and the condition of its contents upon receipt or dispatch.
- Mark or verify material and product identification to maintain inventory integrity.
- Maintain incoming material inspection reports and a receiving lot to control log for tracking purposes.
- Initiate actions to prevent non conformances and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Efficiency load and unload products shipped or received, ensuring proper handling and safety protocols are followed while operating a sit-down forklift.
- Move materials to storage area and place them in designated locations to optimize space and accessibility.
- Participate in all annual physicals inventory activities to ensure accurate stock levels.
- Adhere to all safety standards, report hazards/violations and ensure all accidents and injuries are reported immediately.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- OSHA forklift certification.
- Understanding of how the Warehouse Associate – Forklift position impacts the organizational mission.
- Knowledge of customer requirements and how this job contributes to fulfilling them.
- Awareness of Enviornmental and Safety Policies and procedures.
- Unstanding of how this role affects EMS objectives and targets within the organization.
- Understanding of IATF 16949, EMS and Quality Managment Systems Awareness requirements pertaining to the role.
- Proficient in operating a sit down forklift and possess strong communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements
- Strong balance and coordination
- Spatial and depth perception
- Ability to operate a stand-up or sit-down forklift for an entire shift
- Ability to climb onto and off forklift equipment repeatedly
- May require manually lifting, pushing, pulling for an extended period of time up to 18 lbs.
- Ability to hear normal sounds and recognize difference between alarms, warning horns in a production/warehouse environment.
