Job Title: Welders
Location: Lansing, MI
Type of Role: Contract to Hire
Shift: 2nd Shift – 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM or 3:30 PM to 1:30 AM, Monday–Saturday (Sundays as needed)
Pay: $23.00 – $27.50/hour with 7% shift premium
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking experienced Welders (2nd Shift) to support fabrication and assembly of metal components for military equipment and infrastructure. This role is responsible for performing various welding techniques, interpreting blueprints, and ensuring all welded components meet structural and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong MIG/TIG welding experience, can work with multiple metals, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on precision and safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Cut, shape, and assemble metal components according to blueprints and technical specifications
- Perform welding using MIG, TIG, stick, and flux core techniques
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications to ensure accuracy
- Inspect welds for defects and perform quality control checks to maintain standards
- Monitor welding processes and adjust techniques to ensure structural integrity
- Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and machinery
- Work with various metals including aluminum, carbon steel, and stainless steel
- Lift, move, and position materials (up to 50 lbs) as required
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 years of MIG/TIG welding experience
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques (MIG, TIG, stick, flux core)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including lifting, bending, and welding in various positions
- Authorization to work in the United States
Additional Qualifications
- Experience working with military, defense, or heavy fabrication projects
- Strong understanding of different metals and welding applications
- Ability to weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
- Experience with equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adjust welding processes as needed
- Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
