About the Role
Caterpillar is seeking a SIL (Software in the Loop) Test Engineer to support system integration and validation for our autonomous truck programs. This role will provide hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology in a fast-paced test environment, working across SIL labs, HIL labs, and field testing.
You’ll be part of a high-performing team responsible for system integration, validation, IT administration, automation development, and simulation testing—supporting Caterpillar’s Cat Command for Hauling product line.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and develop SIL test plans for complex system features.
- Debug and document issues, providing clear communication with cross-functional teams.
- Automate system-level administrative tasks using Python or similar scripting languages.
- Collaborate daily with Caterpillar teams in Australia, India, and the U.S.
- Support dealer/customer demonstrations and real-world testing on surrogate vehicles.
- Manage and troubleshoot IT environments including Windows Server, Ubuntu VMs, networking, and SQL server administration.
- Ensure test servers and environments are up to date and functioning properly.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, or related field).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in system-level testing and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with SIL test execution and documentation.
- Strong scripting/automation skills (Python or equivalent).
- Ability to manage complex system testing in cross-functional environments.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
