What are the responsibilities and job description for the Combat Systems Officer Support SME position at Global Commerce and Services, LLC?
We are seeking a Combat Systems Subject Matter Expert. This role provides direct support to the Force Combat Systems Officer (F-CSO) and staff, focusing on readiness, integration, and operational effectiveness of surface fleet combat systems across multiple warfare domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess readiness of surface combatant systems including Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD), Air Warfare (AW), Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Strike Warfare (STW), Surface Warfare (SUW), and embedded training systems (BFTT/ATD)
- Analyze operational message traffic, tasking, and fleet communications to identify readiness issues and provide actionable recommendations to leadership
- Evaluate policy changes and assess impacts to fleet operations, training, and system integration
- Develop and deliver formal briefings to leadership on combat systems readiness, manning, training, and equipment status
- Coordinate combat systems capability requirements with USFFC, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), PEO Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS), Naval Surface Warfare Centers (NSWC), and fleet stakeholders
- Support integration, certification, evaluation, and operational readiness of combat systems in coordination with Carrier Strike Groups, Afloat Training Groups, and other fleet units
- Participate in development and execution of training scenarios, including Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) environments
- Coordinate with Regional Maintenance Centers (RMC) and In-Service Engineering Agents (ISEA) to address system sustainment and logistics support
- Support development of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) in coordination with Surface Warfare development organizations
- Attend and support operational meetings, working groups, and VTCs; document outcomes and prepare supporting materials
Required Qualifications
- Must possess an active Secret or above clearance
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Navy combat systems, including AW, BMD, IAMD, SUW, STW, and training systems
- Demonstrated ability to assess system readiness using equipment status, training metrics, and operational reporting
- Experience supporting fleet operations, training certification events, and combat systems integration efforts
- Strong understanding of Navy combat systems architecture, operational employment, and training pipelines
- Experience coordinating with major Navy stakeholders (e.g., USFFC, PEO IWS, NSWC, ATG, Strike Groups)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including development of senior-level briefings
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM), Ship’s Test Officer (STO), or equivalent leadership role
- Experience with integrated combat systems testing, training systems, and fleet certification processes
- Familiarity with Navy training and readiness frameworks
